Bio-Nutrients The main objective of a biological
treatment process is to remove organic pollutants (BOD) from wastewater.
Microbial nutrition is the basis for most of the biological GROWTH technology.
Macro nutrients (N & P) must be present in sufficient quantities to support
biological growth. The required ratio of BOD:N:P for optimum treatment
efficiency were recommended at 100:5:1. However, the actual nutrient requirement
may vary from plant to plant depending on the type of process applied,
composition of waste, plant design, mode of operation, and other environmental
factors.
